A truly captivating image. Shadow and girl created a horizontal division of three, with dappled, rippled light in between. Definitely got my attention in a good way.

Intriguing use of the rule here, with two separate attention points in diagonal opposition at the intersection points. It works on one level, but also creates an interesting tension between the cat's eye and the flower. The front leg bridges the gap as a leading line, but it still feels visually unsettled to me. The exposure and background are exceptional.

Greetings from the DPC Critique Club:

I realize that this is late in coming, but Critique Club members have been backlogged with current challenges and recently got caught up enough to go back a bit in the request queue. I voted in this challenge and gave you a 9. Absolutely loved this shot. It's at an unusual angle and didn't immediately give itself up as a bottle and cap. Once that became clear the technical excellence became even more apparent. Amazing sharpness and detail, perfect strobe technique and spot on exposure. I don't think I can tell you a thing that would make it better, or would explain your lower end votes. Maybe chalk it up to a commonplace subject that was easily identified, and therefore not abstract enough. Who knows. It's a great photo. I'd be proud as heck if I was behind the lens. Kudos.

I still imagine what ever it is, is submerged in clear liquid, but that may be just the power of suggestion from the first impression and the title. Curious.

The composition and DOF creating an interesting bokeh pattern in the background are great and the silver/green color palette is a good choice. I the main subject is hammered metallic - some kind of container with dark liquid? Really.. I have no idea.
