Watching the River Flowby hesitantComment: Beutiful view -- interesting how the bridge stays and the building on the left have almost the same outline -- do you know if that was deliberate? |

The USS Carl Vinson Sails by sfaliceComment: Congratulations!!!
Really like how the mist at the waterline gives it a very ghostly look, appropriate for the subject IMO. I'd be curious to see this in grayscale, without the bright blue bit of sky ... perhaps even darkening it -- moving in the direction of the noir look. With a vertical crop I can see it as a WW II movie poster ... |

D I Gby mbrutus2009Comment: Whenever I play at sports photography I usually make a few tries at catching the ball at the point of impact -- rarely successfully. Great work showing the compression/distortion of the ball, and excellent clarity and focus under what were probably problematic lighting conditions. |

8 ball break - motion blurby TobiComment: I've used pool as a vehicle for illustrating motion blur myself -- this is a very good example. Because you have such good "tracks" of the "particles" I'd have been tempted to title it something like "Large Hadron Collider: Home Model" ... ;-) |

corrugatedby bvyComment: There's an interesting contrast between the straight line marking the bottom edge of the upper panels, and the erose bottom edge of the middle panels. I also like the curls of the barbed/razor wire against the straight lines of the wall. Processing/color look appropriately gritty ... |

psychodelicby JutildaComment: Pretty colors and curves.
Thank you for striking a blow for art derived from photos ... I don't use filters much, but I love to play around with color shifts to create abstracts from otherwise mundane pictures.
Often when I do something like this, I'll also post a link to the original source image, just so people have a reference point, and perhaps wonder how I got from that to this ... ;-) |
