Eilan Donanby GordonComment: I think you could crop out some foreground to a 3:2 aspect ratio. You could also change the mood of this considerably by darkening the background area ... |

Kayakingby SammieComment: The look of concentration helps establish that this is possibly a new endeavor. Good stop-motion exposure, focus, framing/cropping. |

Spring Flowersby MobiusComment: Makes a good abstract of color and texture; this would be a fun image to play around with shifting the colors on as well, with big sweeping areas of color and tone, with subtle details. |

Ahoyby RLSComment: Those sails look awfully small for a vessel that size ... where was this taken? Reflection on the water came out well and is well-placed. |

The rainbowby eirasiComment: I was trying to figure out from the thumbnail how you could get the whole arc like that when I realized that the high latitude changes the arc and moves it far lower in the sky than I'm used to seeing. Great shot! |

Serendipitious Signby candycornComment: Originally posted by Neuferland: Even cropping closer on the sides (putting my trusty envelopes up to the screen) makes a HUGE difference in the shot. |
Hahaha I use envelopes I find lying around too! While I agree that a tighter crop would help a lot, one also has to be careful of running afoul of the DPC "other art" rule, so including some background is a good idea.
Starting with this frame, I'd crop top, bottom, and left, leaving just a little room around the sign and including the tree to the right, making it about a 2:1 panoramic, and with the arrow pointing off towards the "empty" area. You could take off the "Closed" sign, but if left on I'd title it Serendipity -- NOT! or something similar ...
Too bad you couldn't get in to shoot the stained glass. |

Nine Squaresby artvetComment: Looks like someone was just starting a Tic-Tac_Toe game. Nice combination of patterned and random elements. |
