Old Friend, August Eveningby Bear_MusicComment: I'm 50/50 on this - the image is great, the lighting is excellent, DOF control is outstanding - there is just something missing from the impact of the image - no real...I can't explain it. I'll give it an 8 anyway. |

Remember What I Saidby JuliBocComment: This is where you don't use a full frame technique - great image, terrific color control, exquisite detail - wonderful technique. Well done - should be a top five finisher. |

Davidby namComment: I like this - lots of character, lots of intelligence and a little bit of whimsy in the expression. Again with the chopped off top of the head - I really have a thing about that. In any case, good color control and the overall impact is high as the image is very interesting. |

tan weraby bspurgeonComment: Heavy dark shadows with the opaque half face technique is hard to pull off successfully. This doesn't quite do it. |

aw shucksby PennyStreetComment: Much too light - a little darker with the contrast and this would be a perfect image - very natural pose, very natural image. |

The Eyes Have Itby IAmEliKatzComment: Chopped head, split face, tons of extra white space - nope, doesn't work for me. Dreadfully uninteresting and pedestrian. |

transitionalby bvyComment: Again with the extra side space and chopped head. Meh - nothing there for me to hang any sort of high rating on. |

Frankieby MikeOComment: A snapshot and not necessarily a "portrait" in the traditional sense. Good conversion, good control over the shading and highlights, it is just not interesting. |

idiosyncraticby jmritzComment: Yes ago, there was a Olympus photographer who used to use veils, window sheers and such to make images that were haunting and very ethereal. This exemplifies that technique perfectly. Well done. |
