I'm going through the entries, stopping at those images I feel have had the benefit of an unconventional eye and dwelling a little longer to try to see and appreciate what you saw. This is one of those images.

Positives: I liked this before I spotted the cat and then it really came alive! Also, once I do see the cat and have that anchor for my eye and brain I begin to wonder how you shot and achieved this... I have no answers though - is it simply reflections of trees in the glass that you've given a bit of a treatment to>

Critical stuff: Nothing

Overall: Highly intriguing and well crafted image.

Positives: An image of considerable power not least because the of the wrap-around continuation of form. The contrast in the headwear is stark and the flecks of precipitation makes us wonder about the weather and then the contrast between the figures becomes even more prominent..

Critical stuff: Not much at all - I'd like a tad more contrast but I suspect you then lose the rear figure's face into the shadows of her hood.

Overall: A well made image.

Positives: Beautiful and brave. The juxtaposition of the red crab claw against the very black volcanic sand is very effective. I love the texture of the sand to and how, where it reflects, black is actually white if we care to look hard enough. Your composition of the frame is exquisite.

Critical stuff: Nothing

Overall: Very high quality work.

Positives: What an arresting image - certainly not something you see everyday. The preciseness of your presentation of the skull, upon a table of rock, is very much in keeping with the positioned skulls of still-life tradition; but here with the natural backdrop and the uncompromising anatomy of the skull make our consideration of life and death all the more pronounced.

Critical stuff: Nothing at all

Overall: I wouldn't have it on my wall but I certainly can appreciate what you've made here.

Positives: I know I've seen this image before and I liked it then too. Once again I'm bound to comment on the girl behind (the star of the image) and how she is looking on in disbelief - and then we notice her shoes and we wonder who she is kidding with her knuckle duster heels!

Critical stuff: I think it would be more powerful with a bit more contrast.

Overall: Excellent street shot.

Positives: A hugely engaging photo - such potential for story building here and the technicals are superb. Great coloration, subtle tone mapping, light, exposure, focus etc... all spot on. The touching of the glass transforms the image, through that potential for self-harm, the subject seems vulnerable. Also, his age is difficult to place precisely, perhaps its because we don't get to see his whole face.

Critical stuff: Nothing

Overall: Really excellent work.

Positives: Toning aside, there is something nostalgic about this image. I also like how unfettered it is while remaining crafted and purposeful. Strangely the image isn't without menace - like a representation of a visitation.

Critical stuff: Not much at all.

Overall: I really like this - despite its composition it feels uncommonly well balanced.

Positives: What a complete delight! I can't tell you how much I like this. It exudes complete confidence in your art; the slight blur, the low contrast - shouldn't work but really, really does. The model, the balloons, the leading line of the water trench. All so beautiful.

Critical stuff: Nothing (of course).

Overall: An image that has floored me with its quality and subtlety. Just amazing.
