If you don't recognize or know this, it is the bud of an oriental poppy. I find them fascinating. The flowers are pretty, too!

PP: Added contrast, then switched to b/w using the channel mixer. Fiddled with levels a bit, sharpened, added small border.

There has indeed been daylight robbery here! 90th?! A very rich shot of an interesting subject.

Very crisp shot. I'm not sure that the decision to have it in black and white wasa good one, though. I find it busy and hard to look at - even though the fairly shallow depth of focus theoretically keeps the foreground crisp and background blurry, the values are so close that I find it's not too comfortable to look at, that I have to work a little to pull that information out. It's a tiring image to look at, because I'm not sure what to make of most of it, or where to rest my eyes.

Wow, simply amazing texture here. I love the detail. Black and white is a great choice. Nice sharpness. I keep supressing the urge to reach in and touch the poppy. 8

Stunning picture, but the levels look a bit strange to me. I'd love to have seen the colour original. Colour would also help the background from not blending into the foreground subject in places. I think plenty of dodging and burning is required here... there's plenty of shadow detail in your subject to be rescued, and the background needs to be darker in places.

Looks like hair growing out of the plan. Good focus and DOF. I would like to see this in color too. Nice Job.

Not sure if I like this photo in B&W. The subject looks like it would be a very interesting macro in color?
