I knew this would be a posthumous award winner the minute I saw it! Poor kid -- I hope your "sprog" feels better soon.

Christian, my daughter is just finishing up with "the Pox", but what you've done here is fantastic. You have captured so much more than just an image in time, a record of a rite of passage as a human being, you have actually captured the feel of the disease itself. Drab, peeking out from the depths of our world, of our history, our evolution, for a week of our lives, then moving on to someone else (to many someone elses), always drab, always gray (or grey, if you prefer), always with the feel you've captured here. Wonderful. Hope the sprog is fully recovered by now.

Not an early memory for me (I was twenty-one) but seeing this makes me remember. . . .ugh.

Now, I'm itching.

Hopefully that bath gave him some relief from the itching. Haunting image, and perfect for this challenge.

I am generally *not* a fan of pictures of disease or death, but this photo has such an elegance to it. You really did make it beautiful, which is why it disturbed me.

Congrats on the posthumous ribbon! Ahh..I remember the chicken pox. Still have some scars. I love the lighting on this. It looks like your commenters really like this shot! Big score difference!

Not a fan of the lighting, apart from the darkness of the hair, the tones on the back are a little washed out.

Ha, now you brought back some memories. Yes, scratch scratch scratch, and in the meantime cry... Then some cold white powder over the body...

Nice realization, wonderful idea, very good, indeed very good.

Wonderful processing to give that feeling of a long ago memory. Quite an effective image to boot.

Yep, I can imagine that being a painful memory! I like the lighting here, gives the impression of the pox standing out from the background of a memory.

Eek. Extremely striking image! Beautifully composed, in a sort of rather freaky way... :)

Great image! Who doesn't remember the dreaded itch and the smell of calomine lotion. Love the processing and title. Simple composition but with lovely dark undertones. +1 for being counter-eyecandy :)
