...from Critique Club...

Hi Anona :)

FIRST IMPRESSION:
nice...but that border's gotta go

COMPOSITION:
Wonderful composition. I think you should have left it w/out a border, it is way to harsh and distracts from the subject. :)

TECHNICAL:
lighting is great. I like your selective DOF. nice sharp focus on the flag...great job :)

ARTISTIC:
It's just another flag shot...i think that's why you finished 38th. I'm sure you realize that this is an international website, and with what's going on in the world you might lose points for a shot of an american flag...it's just reality.

Interesting how jmsetzler jumped to the conclusion that you were going to get 'nasty remarks' when in fact you got NONE... :)

Cheers and good luck in the future challenges.

I can't believe you took 38th. What a rip off!!!! This is an excellent photo. You must be so frustrated. You got a 10 from me on this one. Keep shooting!!

This is not as good, in my opinion, as the other American-flag-on-a-pole photo. It's hard for me to judge this symbolism dispassionately, as I'm very opposed to the looming war (and I'm not American). But you caught the flag riding the wind very nicely.

This is very beautiful. I like the pole leading up.

This looks too much like the freedom photo. You must shoot together. I suggest you use different shots. This is beautiful but is lessened by one so close to it.. It is seriously a beautiful work of art, but so is the other one.

i do like the composition of this photo ... i dont like the red border .. i think a black border or even a dark blue would have made this photo even stronger

This is an awesome shot. The texture of the pool is great up against the smoothness of the flag. Great lighting and angle. Good luck!!

This is a very nice photo. The border needs to be less distracting to me.

Really nice shot, good focus and color. I don't like the border at all though and feel it may detract from the shot.
