I was walking through a park today with my camera and took some squirrel pictures. Tonight I was looking though my days shots and noticed the tag. Who tags squirrels? And why?

Does seem unusual to tag squirrels, but nobody does it for fun! Your local naturalists/conservation officers could give you more details. Try writing a letter to the editor in your local paper and see what response you get. |

I think it's Slippy's doing. He catches them, gets the big stapler, punches their ear, and lets them go. |

I was wondering if Slippy might have a hand in this... |

That's his bluetooth headset. He was going nuts trying to hold his phone while searching for food. |

Pun intended? I hope not, since that was really acorny joke if it was. You'd have to be pretty squirrely to post something like that.

It's not Slippy's. His squirrels are easily recognizable because they are genetic mutants. |

its a -Passive Integrated Transponder- or PIT tag. It's used to track where they migrate to in there lifetime. |

There's really no need for that - I can tell you where they ALL migrate to - MY HOUSE. We have more darned squirrels than you would believe, and they destroy everything including bird feeders, planters and our deck!

Could it be the cooking instructions? |

With a metal tag on the ear of each squirrel, they can be easily gathered using supermagnets suspended from helicopters.
