I would like to nominate Rich Hot_Pixel for a Yappie. Over the years Rich has taken the time to leave very detailed, thoughtful and helpful comments. Rich seems to target images that are not currently in voting, but rather reviews profile shots that normally have no other comments upon them and chooses images he feels he can contribute to and hopefully lend a helping hand. I find it’s always a nice surprise to find a new comment on an older photo.

An example of a typical Hot_Pixel comment:

Comment:
This shot is a decent candid, you positioned your model nicely using the rule of thirds. His pose and the act of him smoking really adds to the candidness of the photo. There is some nice contrasting between him and the background as well.

However, I do think in my opinion, there are a few things that you can try to enhance the photo further. Firstly, your blacks are to dark. If you look at his hat it almost disappears into the shadows, also the pin stripes on his suite are not as evident as the could be if you gave a bit of a contrast boost.

The other thing that I would suggest is not to have the horses snoot in the frame, or add enough so that the horses are easily identifiable. The white on the horses snoot competes for attention due to the brightness it. The horses are out of focus which is good, but there isnt enough in the frame for the eye to quickly identify it as a horse and will slow the viewer from proceeding inward past until figuring out what they are.

Can I nominate someone not quite for a photo, but for their awesome OOB style when shooting those photos? If so, I want to nominate Snaffles.

Just a bump to raise awareness. I don't have any nominations in mind at the moment, but maybe someone else will!

I can't believe he hasn't been nominated before, seems like he's been here forever and a day. Raise your hand if you can remember a time without K10Dguy spinning his fables...

I, er, actually was nominated before. On the page just before this one ;D

Oh, well, then... Isn't it WUNNERFUL how many nominations you're getting from the adoring masses?

R.

I dunno, I kind of feel like Susan Lucci in the Daytime Emmys.

My ex-wife's maiden name was Mucci...

Most of those are awarded by individuals to recognize what they feel are great, but underrated entries. For instance, I recently started giving a "shoehorn" award. Not for shoehorning entries, but for putting some humor into a challenge. I only used a shoehorn because I have made that my own trademark, sort of.

The Posthumous award was the start of that trend, I think. His award is probably the most coveted of the individual awards. I've been fortunate enough to get two of those, but no oobie yet.

I found out about the oobie's and yappe's, but there are still many other award icons on people's profiles. Where do I find explanations of those?

if you go to the very first post of this thread, you can see an explanation of all things OOBIE and YAPPIE. :)

Well, Alan, if you have a nomination, nominate him - don't hold back! :)

If I get enough nominations, I'll then move the noms off to voting.

Posthumous Awards are based on artistic merit, not necessarily on out of the box thinking.. The Yappie has no replacement as yet…..I do have a nomination for a guy in the Yappie side, for someone that likes to add-libb a bit on free studies….Lets get these awards going again, I’ll help, well as long as I have a internet connection ;p

Thanks for pointing this one out, I did not vote this challenge but likely would have missed the reflected face, it is so subtle but that is what I like about it.
