This isn't an outtake, but it's the original from which I spun my ribbon-winning entry:
A number of folks have asked how it was done. Long story short, nothing I came up with pre-rollover seemed worthy to me, then on rollover night I had an idea: maybe I could do something with a backlit colander? Maybe I could "spin it" in post and get a galactic vortex type of image, sucking the viewer out & away? I knew the tones would be wrong as shot, and that I'd have to add the radial element in post if I didn't want the whole thing to be a mess, but that's what PSCC and Topaz are for, eh? Basically, what I did was basic processing and cloning in LR and PSCC straight from a camera-phone JPG. Having done that, I added radial blur in PS then took it to Topaz Restyle to tweak the tonalities dramatically. Finally, I produced an altered version of the Topaz layer and set it to "lighten" mode, adjusted the opacity, and there it was :-)
I was pleasantly surprised with how well it turned out.
