Let's see. I am a soldier currently serving in Iraq. I first started seriously getting into photograpy on my second deployment back in 2005. My goal was to find the beauty in such a war-torn, desolate country. I found many different subjects to experiment on. Back then I was using a Nikon Coolpix. I was getting some good photographs, but nothing near the level of where I wanted to be. Now that I am here again I am using a Nikon D40 and am starting to get the results I was looking for. I am looking forward to being able to participate in challenges. Right now I don't quite have the resources I need to upload and edit pictures. I am using this time to learn more about photography and get to know my camera more. I will be returning to my home station, which is in Germany for now, by year's end. I am really looking forward to being able to travel through Europe with my wife and kids and photograph all of the sites. My long-term goal is to become a better photographer and one day make it my job. My short-term goal is to be able to particpate in challenges on DPC and see how I fare against the excellent photographers found within the website. If anyone has any tips or advice it will be much appreciated. Might be easier if I can find a way to upload some pics! :) |

You don't take a photograph. You ask, quietly, to borrow it. |
