My first challenge I ranked 21 out of 92, which I thought was pretty good, considering the caliber of my competition!
My first goal will be to break into the top
twenty. Due to an unfortunate DQ, I am actually 20th out of 91 in my first challenge! So I guess I will change that goal to breaking into the top 15. Yikes! That will be a toughy!
My second (and probably more difficult) goal will be to get a score of 6.0 or better.
My third goal is to get a website of my photos up and running.
Revising some of my goals (hopefully a little more realistic):
1st goal - Have all of the entries on the front page of my profile be a 5.0 or higher.
2nd goal - Consistently get in the 50% or higher range.
3rd goal - Get some real equipment! Obviously the shop light and foam boards are just not cutting it.
My long term goals is to actually make money with my camera.
And just in case anyone cares on how I go about voting -
I give high scores (7-10) for photos that meet challenge, are different from everything else in the challenge, evoke emotion, and are technically something I couldn't replicate if my life depended on it.
I give middle of the road scores (5-6) to photos that I could probably shoot, if I worked at it and that meet challenge.
I give lower scores (2-4) to those photos that look like a five year old stuck a point & shoot out the window of a moving car to take a picture of the dump and I can't figure out how it would fit in the challenge.
I think I've only given out one or two 1's and that was when it obviously DNMC and took absolutely no effort to produce.
I try to comment on images, but because I'm so new at this, they rarely have any helpful comment. I use the word 'great' a lot. Some day I hope to have the technical knowledge to leave useful comments. :)
And again, if you care, I will mark your comment as helpful if: it really is helpful, or if it's just plain encouraging/nice. If I disagree with it, or you obviously just 'don't get' what I was going for, or you were downright rude, then no check mark from me!
For now, I'm just having fun taking pictures. Please provide feedback to help me improve!
