I like how the shoes are in disarray... like someone just kicked them off and... well, that leaves the mind to imagine. I like the black and white conversion as well. Good choice.

Not a composition that appeals to me. The mono conversion makes it hard to make sense of the pile of shoes. I'm not sure what post-processing steps you used, but there is an obvious halo around the top of the shoes and sock in the centre.
