"In war, there are no winners, only losers."
- Neville Chamberlain (paraphrased)

War - the ultimate game of rock, paper, scissors. Soldier beats civilian, tank beats soldier, plane beats tank.

Only it is not a game. In the end, everybody loses.

---------------------------------------------------------
This was the most complicated setup for a photo I've ever performed. I spent many hours stringing items up in the air using 6 lb. monofilament line and smashing scissors and rocks to bits. I took probably 500 shots of the setup, then ended up discarding them all.

Some kind folks gave me feedback on the photo and talked some sense into me. The original idea was too complicated and required the viewer to study it for too long in order to figure it out, so I followed the suggestion to crop it down and letterbox it and liked this version much better.

The original picture (below) was not meant to be a comment on war like the submission is, but rather was inspired by a forum post regarding this challenge in which someone said they wished someone would post a photo using all three items in a way that expressed the rules.

Here is that original one that I did not submit:

Thanks everyone for the votes and comments! In hindsight, I wish I'd reshot this rather than crop from the outtake, and I wonder if it'd have improved the score enough to place in the top 5.

I like the concept, but it seems a bit out of focus to me.

That was the first picture I didn't have to look at the Title and knew what it "meant".
Well done! 11

one of the better images I've seen so far. more creative, not just a snapshot of three things placed in an "interesting" way. I like it :)
