On Saturday I headed downtown on the train to catch the Polar Bear Club jump into Lake Michigan. Unfortunately, household errands got me off to a late start and the train was running soooooo slow. By the time I got to Oak Street Beach everyone was out of the water and packing up. This is a group of swimmers headed home from the beach. Hopefully, many will recognize the title as a line from my son's favorite book growing up, Where the Wild Things Are.

The Polar Bear Plunge looked like it would have been an interesting photo opportunity. I have to get there earlier next year.

Love the lighting, silhouette and shadows. I wonder how many people will recognise the horns with Where the Wild Things Are (one of my favourite children books). Excellent processing and the sun works so well with this. One of my top picks for the challenge. 10.

I'm going through the entries, stopping at those images I feel have had the benefit of an unconventional eye and dwelling a little longer to try to see and appreciate what you saw. This is one of those images.

Positives: The horns of the shadows are magnificent, they get lost on their owners so the shadows rescue them from obscurity. I really like the flare at the top of the frame too. The overall feeling is quite joyous and a little bit chilly!

Critical stuff: Nothing really.

Overall: A lovely shot all round.

Vikings amok in the city! With or without the horns, it's a very interesting photograph. I'd have cropped it square from near the top, maybe even from right AT the top (yep, right through the shadows), but it's not my picture so WTF would I know? 7 & thank you.

Love the glare from the sun and the women's reflections.
