Street Lighting - 52 weeks of light poles? Maybe.
this site breaks me up every time I go by it and I've photographed it before.
Still, it seemed to be a fun way to start off this new project.
The subject is a Doggy Diner head that used to grace a once ubiquitous chain of eateries.
they are gone now, but a few of the heads refuse to go away.

Ah, yes. Of course Bear would know where this is. Next to the Zoo in San Francisco and in the median next to the "space" where there once existed - wait for it - a Doggy Diner! The space will turn into a parking lot soon for a place that sells plants and pots.

I love your choice of theme- there is a very classic feel to the composition of this shot. The blues tell a story of the light that day, and just fade away into the whatever, quite nicely.

Love the light poles. The speaker pole is scary. I can just imagine a howl from it.

Like the background and the head, but find the extra lights a little untidy!

What a great find. Not sure why but I find this a little haunting. But then again, I̢۪m not too fond of clowns either.

Love the polka dot bow tie! Those street lights, particularly the ones in the background, somehow remind me of a young boy running around with his arms stretched out pretending to be an airplane!!

Will I ever get to sleep, said the poor doggy on the light pole.
Very colorful.

What an unusual 'thing' to have staring at you all the time. The red almost looks like the type of glossy paint used on cars.

I wondered what you meant by street lighting. Now that I see one I wonder even more: does this really exist? Does it cast light on the street? Great start!

LOL! What a collection of lights! You're off to a good start. Hopefully the head will survive a bit longer....

That's one 'ubiquitous chain of eateries' that never made it here. Maybe that's a pity? Anyway it's a fun embellishment for a light pole.

It's not on a light post, CC, it's on a free standing sign post, but the DINER is gone. As it happens, I know exactly where this one is. Very cool, Alice!

What a fun theme you've chosen. Funny that someone would choose to put this on a light post. Very well composed shot!
