 A really cool shot that I like a lot, but suspect that it will not do well in an Expert editing challenge as there's clearly not much by way of expert editing :)

Still, it's a new direction of processing for me, and one that I feel turned out well for the image.

Suspect a ~5.5 score, but hoping for something around 5.8. A 6+ would be a shocker.

Processing:
DeNoise
Export to Topaz Detail (Creative Detail Enhancement preset)
Import back into LR3
Selective adjustments (sharpness, contrast and clarity)
B&W conversion (Infrared Preset)
Heavy Dodge&Burn to isolate spider.
Selective sharpening of spider legs
Save JPEG and export to web.

Hit a 6.47 high yesterday, so completely shattering any expectations I've had for this...but it's on the slow decline, down to 6.34. Hoping I can hold the 6.3 till end of voting.

That 6.4 is well deserved friend, I wish other voters had seen the simple beauty in this image, but that's alright, you know it's great, and a lot of other people do too.

Great use of a hairy scary spider laying in wait in the dark! However, I feel that the overexposed rest of the pic is a turnoff for the more technical voters. That, and the fact that said cause of fear is a spider, and sadly the odds are probably not in your favour. Still, gave you an 8.

I wanted to give this shot a 10, but I couldn't, and the reason being is that it's just not as creative as the Electric Funeral shot. With that said, I find this image very striking and fitting with its title. The high key nature of it creates a perfect juxtaposition between the subject and its surroundings. Along with that, it's incredibly creepy. Maybe someone who is not afraid of spiders will rate this lower, but for me, it's very solid.
