Challenge: Four (Classic Editing)
Camera: Sony DSC-F717
Location: Lexington, Kentucky
Date: Dec 20, 2002
Aperture: 8
ISO: 100
Shutter: 1/3
Galleries: Abstract, Macro
Date Uploaded: Dec 19, 2002

Read John Setzler's tutorial and did the set up in my basement. Wanted more depth of field in the background so I used a smaller aperture. Wanted to see if I could do this. Rotated, cropped and autoleveled in PS Elements. Used new 2 color border rule.

I realize there are tiny "highlights" on the bubbles. The light source was a 150 watt hallogen aimed under the glass and bubbles. Tried several setups but was not successfull with eliminating the highlights.

Your going to get beat over the head about similar to 2 other challenge shots. But I liked it then and still do. I've read how it's done and still can't do it. Good execution. Must cut the score a little because it is just like 2 others, but is still a 7. PTL

This is a great concept - very creative. I would prefer the photo to be rotated 90 degrees clockwise. It's amazing that you were able to get the three drops in the center in perfect alignment with each other.

OK so we have seen this technique become very popular in recent challenges. Yes I'll give you 10 for technique. But for originality I am going to be a little nasty and knock off a few points. I am sure you had fun making this image. The colours and number arrangements are beautiful. Unfortunately I feel that too much of one thing like kraft dinner can lead to visual indigestion. This is just my little opinion. The other 100 DPC participants will give you a full 10 score. Photography is personal eye speaks. Keep up the good work.
