 Our friends and family grew their beards out ("Beards for Alex") when we learned this October that his cancer was indeed very terminal. Although I would have liked to enter a better portrait, it's more important that I enter this challenge. Although this photo isn't a spectacular piece of art or anything, it tells a story and will help my family and I remember my brother while we have him.

I wanted to know more about him so I am glad you posted the story and the picture. This is real stuff and you did a good job capturing it. All the best to you all and I hope your European trip is still on. It will definitely be something he will treasure.
