At ISO 200 the D90 has little or no noise, certainly none in a daylight shot like this. I think your Post Processing (PP) let you down or your SFW compression was too high.

Great image, well captured very alert looking, a fine portrait. Its a shame though that the background with its noise and compression artifacts does it no favours
