I really wanted to take a gritty street shot for this challenge but didn’t get the opportunity. Well, once again I’ve decided to do a personal speed challenge with restrictions. I wasn’t so tough on myself this time and let me take as many shots as I like but I had to shoot, process and upload in one hour. I decided to take a shot of one of my cats; two setups and three candids. As it worked out it was the first shot (setup) that I chose and completed the processing and upload in about half an hour. This would have met my self-imposed from previous challenges.

I think for the first time in a long time I’ve set my old cameral on its highest iso setting (1600) to get the noise and taking both jpg and raw (this is due to my laptop dying and having to use my wife’s with no raw converter).
- No rotation or cropping required
- Selected Channel Mixer/Monochrome and adjusted the R, G & B sliders to my liking
- Slight adjustment to Levels and Curves
- Set Mode to Grey Scale then selected Duotone (Black and PANTONE 1215 CVC) then back to RGB Color
- Though Selective Color a slight increase to Black
- Add Noise Gaussian (8.79%)
- created a vignette effect using an inversed Elliptical Marquee and Levels
- Unsharp Mask; Resized; Unsharp Mask; Resized then saved for web.

As I have been away and have not looked at the previous challenges or any threads that might have been raised so I’m guessing I have approached the challenge in the right way. I’m expecting this might reach 5.5 but what I’m really hoping for is perhaps recognition by Don (Posthumous). It’s been a while since I’ve produced and image good enough to hang in his gallery.

Well, at 30 votes it's sitting at 4.8xxx. I would appear to have completely missed the concept of the challenge. I felt I had created enough noise to add to the photo's impact but I guess the voters wanted noise/grain to be the impact.
