Nice texture. Maybe having the background a bit out of focus would have helped creating separation. Thsi way it looks almost painted rather than three dimensional.

I was going to suggest a steampunk challenge- this certainly looks like the gears of a time machine, a Victorian Rube Goldberg. Nice work.
