 I attempted to portray the impression of speed and movement by mounting the camera to the car exterior and driving around my local roads at night.

My tripod was precariously wedged out of the rear passenger window of my car with the legs wedged between front and rear seats. A piece of string was used to put necessary opposing forces onto the tripod head to help it remain steady and stable remembering that my $3000 camera and lens rig were out 'swaying in the breeze').

I had set the camera before setting off to what I thought would be the best way to achieve the idea I had in my head. I used aperture priority mode to control the shutter speed as I knew I would need a fast f number to capture as much light into the camera as quickly as possible because the camera would be moving at 100kph. Another factor I took into consideration was that the lights are always changing in intensity, direction, and duration in the real world. Using shutter control (or manual) modes would not have come close to capturing the light like I wanted.

I used my wireless remote to fire each shot individually whilst I was driving around.

Post processing was kept to a minimum (vibrance, contrast, and exposure gamma levels tweaked, some spot healing and image resizing). This is something I am proud of as I have been thinking about the image variables before taking it and then trying to frame my shots in the viewfinder not on the computer afterwards.
