 Photographer’s Notes
Sometimes images come from the strangest places.

Take this one for example. Ten years ago, or a bit more, my wife and I moved to Madrid. We furnished our flat ‘on the cheap,’ mostly at Ikea. One of the things we bought was a set of cheap glasses. I bond with the strangest things, but I loved these glasses and we brought them back with us.

So I’m sitting here at my Mac, editing commercial photos for a client, with a glass of ice water at my elbow … the glass is one of the cheap Ikea glasses. The light strikes it oddly and I see an abstract image waiting to be taken.

Down to my studio (eh, closet) with its professional (eh, flash) lights. I mount my favorite macro lens and shoot a bunch of lighting treatments. None of these actually realize what I saw but I like this one especially … soft and hard … focused and blurred. I like it.
