Challenge: Fool the Viewer (Expert Editing)
Camera: Ricoh GR Digital III
Date: Sep 12, 2011
Date Uploaded: Sep 13, 2011

[Sep. 22nd, 2011 09:10:35 PM]

This challenge happily coincided with some new experimentation of mine. I'm still working out the process and don't want to go into details just yet, but I will say two things:
- It's "real" -- in fact, this would have been a minimal edit had I not had to crop (as a rule I don't crop my images, but this process sort of requires it).
- No plastic bag or other material came into contact with the face of the model, who may or may not be me.

Thank you.

Alexander Bayliss, as a young man.

If you haven't read The Industry of Souls then may I give you the urge? Martin Booth is dead now, but I think you'd nominate the novel for the posthumous blue.

What's the world coming to? A 6+ score for a beevy shot? Pretty cool! (and the photo is slightly spooky) :D

very cool - love the toning. I'm guessing real.

Am wondering why you picked this color. IMO a bluish tonality would have put it more in an aquatic mood.

I think this is REAL, and I hope the model didn't suffocate. The image is quite disturbing, and so I'd say very effective.

Not real. Photo of a plastic surface plus photo of a person, in overlay blend mode.

Not real, probably. But this is terrifically well done.

Very creepy and nice use of light and shadow. I am going to guess this is photoshopped, mainly because I can't see any distinctive warping in the fabric of the paper.

kind of a disturbing picture, like a last gasp. I'd go with it being a real image though as I think the stress lines on the plastic would be difficult (though not impossible) to imitate.
