This was shot from the inside of my boat, through the rain-soaked sunscreen on the windshield. The vertical 'tree' to the right, is actually a piling in the water, but it looks so forest-like to me.

I used Topaz Adjust Color Pop to enhance these glorious colors, after some initial contrast and levels adjustment in Aperture.

And yes indeed, that bright spot is the sun.

I looked up from my work to see wonderful, shining, drops of rain just glowing from the sunlight.

I'll take your word for it being the sun, it could just be a really bright light. Trying to figure out what you shot through to get the effect, maybe a screen with lots of moisture on it, don't know but it's kind of neat like a pointilism painting.
