 Late 1958, so I was 9. The schoolyard was adjacent to our house (owned by Education Department, although Dad taught at another school). I used to spend heaps of time on these bars, mostly unsupervised. They were really quite high - much higher than any I would see now. Below was a mixture of bare ground, a sandpit and concrete.
