Wohoo! HM! :-) Delighted with this.

Got 18 points scrubbed and two votes lost (average of 9 each) on rollover which would have put me at 6.72. I thought scrubbing was meant to stop trolling not liking! :-)

Top five! Wohoo!

A brighter version and different side of this:

Processing was easy enough:
* Photomatix, three images. I had taken 5, but the resulting HDR image was a little dark, so I chose the three brighter ones.
* Topaz adjust/detail/denoise. Adjust for light balance and detail for sharpenss. Denoise for reducing noise (I don't think it was needed, but I tend to use it anyway after photomatix).
* Photoshop, dodge'd the faces of the cathedral walls an burnt its roofs. Some selective colour lightness adjustment (greens and blues) and some selective saturation boost of the flare. Then some slight desaturation of the pathway so it'd match the cathedral.
* Lightroom, crop, rotate. Try to export to 300kb. No joy. Export tiff to photoshop. Photohop, export and eventually got the right size/detail combination. Took many attempts!

Magical shot; excellent colors in the flare; even better is the fairyland contrast between the gritty building and the shot.

Congrats on the HM! I don't think you are far off from your first ribbon. Gotta admit however, that I gave it a good, but not a great vote. Nothing wrong with the shot at all, just the personal appeal factor at work.

Nice use of converging lines to accent the flare and use it as a compositional element to add to the image.

Yeah, beautiful shot. One of the strongest here for sure. Great dual-meaning title with a reference to the flare. Not voting, but this is a top-three shot for me.

I suspect this will place at the top. Flares like Christmas lights.

Super image. The traditional (6 sided) aperture flares add to the effect and DMC. Front page contender because of both the flare and the image on it's own merit.
