This is the best, can you try it again with Katie looking towards you?

Now. Voila! You got it. Here is a shot that is splendid. You used negative space and lighting in your composition to enhance the attention on the subject. You also left the negative space in the place where the model's eyes are looking. Very nice aesthetics on this composition. Your DoF is also killer here. I like that the strands of hair on either side are out of focus (the strands in back moreso). You captured a range of tones on the subject's face which is how people would see her and it shows some personality in her expression (see the "almost" dimple where the shadows start to darken just to the side of her mouth? See the gradual shadow under and beside the model's nose? Now little things like that, IMO, make all the difference. If there is a nit that I would pick with this it would have to do with the eyes. The subject's eyes are large and bright but not completely clear (perhaps late night partying in celebration of doing a model shoot with Theodor). I can't say that you should clean this up but just that its noticible and you might want to look into touching the veins out of her closest eye and trying to bring it back to white (this isn't a "need to" kind of thing; I like the shot just the way it is).

This is indicative of the kind of work you do and I bet you'll just expand on this emotive kind of work in the future and keep on blowing us away with portraits to complement your self-portrait and challenge submissions.

Very good job.
