My inner nerd requests a deeper DoF, both from a photographic standpoint, and so that I can check out his lego creation :)
But, I gotta admit, I love the DoF and how it works with his face. It's a hard choice to make.

Atsome point inlife, probably after the age of 12, we lose this wonderful concentration. Or the pleasure of doing things. We can always re learn from looking at kids. Great shot
