Recently I've acquired an eclectic mix of functional and decorative objects that were used and collected by my mother, grandmother, great grandmother and maybe even farther back.ggggggrandmothers??? The older thimble was decorated with a Latvian design and obviously used until a hole was worn through it. They are both diminutive relics of the past and speak to a more gentle and quiet time before the chaos of this tech
no-culture era. The golden light came from a very early morning outdoor shot and highlights the remaining 14 carat gold on the older thimble. That's probably why it wore through more quickly than the silver one. The higher the carat the softer the gold. I am excited about the challenges......and am excited to set my creative photgraphic side into action....images and ideas come into my head....instantly. Unlike my painting, drawing, pottery and cooking!!!! well...I love all my creative efforts....all aspects of creation.... Ok so that has nothing to do with this photo.....wait yes it does.....macro.......small......Oma's thimbles...YES!!!! Thanks for your votes and perusals...looking forward to more fun!

I remember using thimbles! Uh, yeah, that means I'm old ;-) Nice view of their texture; the one on the left looks like someone got frustrated and took a hammer to it.

Great subject. I'm not sure if it's the lighting, but I feel this is a tad over to the yellow end where it seems like it should be more silver.
