 I quite like this image. I found the feather on the way home from work the other day and thought of this scene for it. I had some out takes with better ripples, but the feather wasn't face-fronting enough for my tastes. I thought macro details were more important than ripples so let it be.

I expect two criticisms in comments. Not very macro-esque and over sharpened. I agree with the second, but the feather was small. Maybe an inch. So I think it's definitely a macro shot.

I expect about 5.5 or so for this. But I like this a lot.

After:
Very happy with this finish. As I said earlier, I like this image. That normally means it's below a 5.5 though, so I'm delighted that it was over 6! First image in a while where I didn't get advice before posting. So it's nice to confirm that I can get over 6 by myself :-)
That's enough danger for a while, so back to advice next challenge.

I do wish I got better ripples. Note for the future, don't use thread for holding a feather. They're so light they twist and turn really really easily. Next time I'll use a think piece of something solid so I can position the feather as I want and not have to worry about getting the timing right for the feather's rotation. Had I thought of doing that I'd've gotten much better ripples. Maybe a slice of a match stick, or a think sliver of cardboard.

It's nice when the response goes up!

This is quite beautiful. I actually hadn't seen it before. The delicate balance is deeply poetic and could not have been captured or presented better. Sincere, lovely photo. Can you tell me who you stole it from so I can fave them?
