This is my humble and fun filled attempt to try and emulate the style of Ben. I don't expect much in the way of a score .. the softness is on purpose as is the slight blur, given that I was using a tripod - I like Ben's shots that appear to use that style. This shot is special to me as it was taken a few days before my son left to go back to Canada. Of course he is well past childhood but for the while he was here I got to cook and do things for him reminiscent of our times together years ago, hence the title.
Not a lot of editing ... exposure adj in cs5 - cloning out a zillion sensor spots .. added a slight vignette .. some cloning and burning, cropped for composition .. reduced noise in CS5 - sharpened - a million prayers a rogue wave wouldn't take my son out to sea. That's about it.

The placement of the figures and the contrast is superb; I like how you use the water wave mist flow long exposure to emulate the style of B rather than go for campy exaggerated blur. It works well, its a poignant inspired shot.

I think you made the right choice. Honestly, I didn't see the children when you first showed this to me, and I wonder how many of our rapidfire voters
missed them. The title invites us to look harder. Nice work.

I love the exposure of this image. It's very clear and very well done.

the two background figures detract from the sombre isolation conveyed in the rest of the shot. Overall pretty good

Contains many Bennish qualities, but I find a harsher, stricter quality to this than in his images. This seems more factual, less allegorical. More journalistic, less poetic.

Nice emotion in this one, but for me it would be even better if the two people in the background were not there.
