It was shot directly outside "Wisdom Path" near the Tian Tan Buddha on Lantau Island, Hong Kong. The wisdom path (a very large wooden inscription of the Heart Sutra set within a figure 8 to symbolize infinity) is located along the hiking trail to the Lantau Peak (the second highest mountain in Hong Kong).
Regardless, directly outside of the Wisdom Path is a bronze sign which tells visitors about the location, its purpose and history in several languages (Chinese, Japanese, Hundu, and English). There is a wasp nest which is located directly below this outdoor sign post.
My nephew spotted one of these resident wasps sitting briefly on the metal sign. I had about 2 seconds to snap the image (and sadly cropped one of the wasps wings during my composition and focusing effort). In fact, the cropped wing is why I was reluctant to enter the image in the challenge in the first place.
However, as you can see for this particular wasp...this sign with Japanese lettering is directly outside its home and thus I would argue directly represents its "natural environment." :) Thanks again. |
