I liked the abstract effect I achieved from this image but many thought the bird should be more obviously a bird – and I agree. So I tried to reshoot and oh-boy, it’s really hard to get the abstract feel I wanted while not loosing too much detail from the bird. With no filters available I needed to pick the time of day with low enough light to allow the longer exposure needed. Well, on the last day I had available to shoot (tried on four different days to get the shot I wanted) I managed to get this.

I like it but it wasn’t exactly what I wanted. My original image got a score of 4.9306 and finished 83 out of 98. I would like to better that result but I’m not too fussed on the score as this type of abstract probably won’t appeal to many voters.

Thanks Revecca for convincing me to enter this and not the Absolut Protection shot. It was the one I worked harder for.

Looks lovely against that gorgeous, richly coloured backdrop.

Gutsy image to enter on DPC. I didn't appreciate it as much as I could/should have. Panning that bird is half the battle...to keep it's head visible and not blurred :)

Wonderful shot, I love the blur and the colors. Very well done. I could see this as a large canvas on my wall... hmm maybe I should come up with a fantasy art gallery like don, if I did this would get that award.

Oh I love this. Blur is so underrated. It doesn't always work, but this really does (for me). 7
