Have had this idea for a while.
Cut out a hole in a cardboard box and made it light-tight (practically). Used an ML3 remote to set the camera off, held a flash at 1/4 power, and set up a reflector to my right.

I loved the idea. I wonder whether it would have been stronger with different positioning of the face/eye and the light (so the nose didn't cast a dark shadow into the eye socket). Voted 8 and really think it should have done better.

Excellent! Fits the challenge perfectly!
A bit more light on the face might have been better, though probably only possible with multiple or a large light source around/behind the face reflecting off white on the other side of the wall.
I like the crop.
