 Shooting bugs with a long telephoto is a good option. Not sure I would want to get this close with a real macro lens.

Good thinking, those guys are mean. They don't understand we come in peace. Nice bug shot too.

You would be surprised at how close you ( read that: I have) can get to most bees. They take a look at a camera and don't think of it as a threat. I like your idea of the telephoto macro shot.
