Photographer's Note:
The idea for this came from childhood memories of building rabbit traps in Montana. During the winter, we would take a box and prop it up on a stick. We would tie carrots to the stick as bait. And finally, when a rabbit entered and nibbled on the carrots, it would knock down the stick, trapping the rabbit. Surprisingly it worked! Maybe an updated trap will work on women?!?

My setup involved a spider web basket woven of wire, my wife's wedding ring, and 3 lights. Tripod. Timed release shutter. And 59 attempts.

Post processing:
Not much actually. I did a little work with Photoshop colors. Cloned out a distracting dark spot. Noise reduction with Neat Image. Resize. Light USM.

:: Hello from the Critique Club ::
............................................................

While I don't normally 'go' for this kind of shot - it is strangely alluring. For me it's not the subject though, but more the colours, lighting and general vibe. Set-up shots like this are a love-or hate them kind of thing, and I tend to fall into the latter category. That said, it's well shot and for its genre it looks accomplished with good DOF.

I'm intrigued by your choice of ISO for this. Why so high? Was there much noise? If anything it looks like there is some background mottling but I don't know whether you wanted some texture or not. I would prefer it super smooth, leaving all attention for your subject.

You may also find that setting your colour mode to Adobe RGB 1998 may improve your output for web and inkjet printing.

Cheers
Jon

Very spider webish shadow surrounding that ring.

very clever idea, lovely colours. Would have liked to have seen more focus on the ring, gets a bit lost in the shadows of the trap.
