Oh what fun I had playing with the six eggs that had just arrived in the shopping (and dodging the blows from my wife who was looking forward to an omelette).

Prediction in the late fives/low sixes - not sure if people will appreciate my interpretation.

After challenge:

Wow - my highest yet, and on a 'basic' too! For those interested in how it was done, it was as follows:
1) Boil egg
2) Mark a line around the centre with masking tape
3) Cut with a dremel cutting disc on low speed
4) Split and clean both halves, including removing the inner membrane
5) Sand down the cut edge of both halves
6) Boil another egg and replace this in one half of the shell
7) Arrange and take, trying to hide the cracked bit at the top of the half that is lying flat

Thanks for all that voted so highly for it - love the suggestion that I should have put it in a builder's setting - I guess placing it on a brick or a piece of wood might have got me even higher - oh well, we live and learn.

I thought (during voting) that this was the most inventive interpretation of the challenge, I'm so very glad that it placed so well

A very clever idea, I'm left trying to work out where the shell chips came from though as it looks like a clean cut.

I like the title. Would building material make a better 'plate'? The eggshell on the sawblade is a nice touch, as is the contrast provided by the brown egg. I'd like to see this cropped a bit more wide, it feels cramped and uncomfortable to me.

Clever! Nicely done, and well shot, too.
