This is the sixth version of a larger crop, which by itself is beautiful but probably not enough impact, drama or other "things DPC loves as much" :). Also, this version has something I forgot on the others - noise reduction. This is made from 3 shots using HDR efex and the tonemapping preset I used as a starting point generates quite some noise.
Not sure how this will do, voters seem to have changed lately, different images and styles are preferred. There might be comments about the ghostly artifacts on the mountains - it's ok, for me the effect is nice.
Yes, this may look similar to a FS entry of mine - the location is the same, but everything else is different. I'm continuing to explore the b&w landscape world further, thanks to Derek, my spiritual guide/spatula :).
Oh yes and note to Derek - again, I forgot to play with the saturation of different colors before turning it into B&W! It's because I used HDR efex and got carried away with its magic :(. But look, the whites are good this time... aren't they?
The darn photo looks too dark now. Oh too late, tomorrow's a working day. |

| An outstanding b&w image. I think you've got the sky exactly right. I think the layered ridges need more contrast and structure... especially on the lower left quadrant. Some haloes distract. Overall, lots of evidence of pro quality landscape photography. Well done! 8 |
