It's not so much the architecture that is interesting, although that's what attracted me in the first place, but the story that goes with it, and I can't relate all the history in detail. However, this house was transported to Australia from America and reassembled. I don't know why such such a big operation was undertaken.
Since I took this shot the house has been renovated. However, it overlooks the Avoca River and that was one of the rivers which flooded in January and I suspect that it may have caught up with this property. I haven't been there to find out.

Ah ha! That's why it looked familiar (and not Australian at all!) .
Someone must have been exceedingly homesick to go to all that trouble.

We have similar Victorian houses in our little area of Colorado. The kids call them gingerbread houses because the trim is often painted different colors - at least around here. What an amazing story. I hope the house survived the flooding...

This reminds me of a house we would see in the southern states of the US. And then I read your comments, I wonder what part of the US it came from. Quite the journey for this home.
