 ... because it looks like an elephant from the pre-historic period. It is a leaf ring from an Aloe tree. The horn-thingy on top of the elephant's head is the base of the leaf that is now gone. The ring folded round the tree stump.

Wow! What a great find! It does look like a mammoth or mastodon. The "ear" is the right shape, just a little too small. The "eye" really looks real.

Appears to be an elephant's eye only not that high.. possibly pre-historic?
