This was shot on the edge of a giant crater. The bright light is not actually an eruption, but the light from a lava lake in a smaller crater in the middle of the huge crater.

Wow. Hard to believe your range of exposure here. Incredible. Nicely framed with the bush; sharp, bright stars; and wonderful glowing red. Awesome photo.
