The canons are relics from the Crimean War, though they never saw action. Australia was afraid it would come under attack from Russia and fortified itself all over the place. Ballarat is inland and these would not have been here originally but transported from elsewhere as souvenirs after the perceived threat subsided.

Topaz Adjust spicify to give a bit of ... well, spice.

What a perfect depiction of young lads on a gorgeous summer day! Great image and perfect processing.

edited to add... When I first saw this image, my immediate thought was of Tom Sawyer and Huck Finn in a modern setting. After I posted, I noticed your signature quote. Mark Twain. Totally inspired...

Darling. I like the saturated colors. Two boys sitting on a canon eating ice cream with their bikes below. What is more "boys will be boys" than that??
