I was driving down some dirt road near my home way out west near the everglades, there is an abundance of wildlife to shoot, I saw him walking through the mud and shot him, I like how you can see his shadow. I shot this hand held with a Canon 70-200 IS L series lens, image stabilizer was turned on. Shot at 200MM, nice bokeh in the background.

Awesome bug shot. The subject has lots of details and sharply separated from the background. 10

Great shot! Can't think of anything to improve it as it's just right the way it is. The mud makes the perfect background for this colorful grasshopper.

Looks like a fun fellow. Gosh, nature has so much to offer. Good capture. Bumping from 5 to 7. I love it.

You have absolutely PERFECT focus and exposure on the grasshopper. The color of the background is not terribly good - but you didn;'t have much choice. The small catchlight in the eye is an added treat. Composition with more space in front and the legs close to the edge is well done. Black border is about 4 or 5 times to much. A very thin black border (or none at all) would be better for me. HAving said all that, it's a great submission overall.

Yet another bug pic. Still, this is among the top half of the genre. Focus is perfect. I like the DOF. Colors and contrast work. Great capture!
