 The vertical: galvanized steel pole bearing a sign (No Dogs on Beach) aligned with its shadow behind it.
The horizontal: concrete block embankment of gravel promenade running parallel to beach.
Background: water's edge lapping the beach trailed by a lone Weimeraner (faintly visible).

The original is very bright. I visualized a dynamic contrast b & w, but, as is so often the case, could not realize what I had envisioned. The result is what you see, an exploration in pp that led somewhere considerably different and darker.

Well, there you go then, that was my second guess. Nowadays I often find an image makes itself available (appear) despite my best efforts to steer it elsewhere.
