 I THINK this is Waiau River, but I know it was on the drive between Nelson and Christchurch. The valley was GORGEOUS, but be careful getting out of your car- it's completely infested with sandflies. Worse than any other point in my trip, and worse than the swarms of mosquitoes I've encountered in bogs in July and August in the backcountry of Colorado. All exposed skin was swarmed within seconds, so this was the only shot I really got because my skin was crawling.
