I do think black and white would have been more effective here. The color adds nothing, and, in fact, it looks like there's some mixed lighting throwing the color balance off. A minor quibble, and easy to fix if you were to that route. A great capture in any case.
The more I look, the more I love this photo (that is already striking to begin with). It has a feeling almost religious about it: the serene and kindhearted acceptance of what any second can bring!
