I like the shot you began with; some nice character. However, it feels like post processing really hurt this photo. To me, the blue in the sky feels unnatural, and much of the snow is purple.

For such a birght scene, the processing makes it feel dull. Also, I think a white balance adjustment is in order here.

nice photo, composition and dof. I would have loved a bit more light on the slats of the wheel, they are interesting to look at, but lost in the darkness on your shot.
